Welcome to the 11th episode of The Richard J Nieves Photography Podcast!
I’m Richard J Nieves, portrait and wedding photographer, and owner of Richard J Nieves Photography located in The Bronx in New York City.
2020 was a tough year. That’s the most obvious statement I could make right now, but it’s true and it’s why we’re here today.
2021 has the stigma of 2020 to contend with, but it’s a new year. You and me have a new beginning where we can get back our bearings. We can achieve our goals and provide the services we’ve committed ourselves to producing.
In the beginning of 2020, I was one of the many people that got a fire lit under me when I lost my job in March.
My main source of income, gone within a day. I was worried about providing for my family. My future was cloudy.
Thankfully I was able to get assistance and I have an amazing support team in my family.
I was so stressed and am still dealing with that tension.
However, that stress put fuel in my tank for this photography business.
By the end of 2020, I had trippled my income from photography compared to 2019, got published in multiple international magazines, shot my first short film that’s still in the works, and started two podcasts.
For 2021, I’ll continue to expand on the reach and experience of the shows I’ve started. My business and art will flourish as long as I keep laser focused on it’s success.
Even though I lost my 9 to 5, my time grew exponentially and I was able to have the energy to focus on my passion.
Maybe you’re in the same boat as me. You lost your main source of income and now you feel the desperation. I want you to take that feeling and turn it into motivation. Turn the worry into a spark that’ll ignite your business into the source of energy people desperately crave.
Make plans. Get focused. Put in the work. Show us what you’re made of. It’s all we can do in the beginning of 2021.
I’ll also be including links to the gear I use in the description and blog post for this episode.
